Whenever I visit islands, I always find local gems, and the Sunshine Coast is brimming with surprises. One such delightful discovery for me was Bruinwood Estate Distillery, which I happened upon by chance with a friend. Expecting just another local distillery, I was in for a treat. The owner, Jeff, is an extraordinarily friendly and remarkable person. This distillery is his retirement project, and his passion shines through in every bottle. Jeff served us a variety of unique and flavorful liquors from his collection, including Earl Grey gin, lavender gin, and mandarin orange vodka. Each one was a new and delightful experience. He even has some distinctive European-style liquors. Jeff’s favourite was Falernum. Bruinwood Distillery is truly a hidden gem. It's just a 15-minute ride from the Langdale ferry terminal, and after passing Gibsons, it’s only another 5-minute drive. I highly recommend this place. "text": "Drive into the distillery is quite shaky... the road in is not paved. The word \" Shaken not stirred\" comes to mind. Owner is very friendly, you get to sample a bit of the gin that they sell. Owner is very knowledgeable & gives lots of explanation regarding the gin that they produced. A good place to go, check it out, you won't be disappointed!",

"text": "Lovely family run distillery. Their passion for quality is apparent in each batch of vodka and gin. As a small batch distiller, they are having fun with the recipes and producing amazing limited edition flavours. The vanilla vodka was warm and earthy. The layers of botanicals in their gin is just heavenly. This distillery is a gem on the sunshine coast.",
